New! Free Security Tools Page -
I have begun to create and post free, simple tools that people can use to take action in determining their level of security risk and aids in planning to deploy appropriate security safeguards. The tools will vary, depending on the organization or individuals, from home computer users to IT managers, to corporate executives and Boards of Directors.
My “Free Security Tools” page on this Blog (Security Views) will be constantly growing to add valuable new self-diagnostics and other tools to help increase your awareness of what you need to do to optimize your level of security. You can start by looking for the “Quick Check” tool that fits your situation. Please note that no single tool can guarantee total security. It really depends on your specific set of circumstances. These tools are simple, rough guides to help you understand the general approaches you can take to security.
The first free download is inspired by Michael Santarcangelo of the Security Catalyst podcasts on Family Security (here), and by the CERT Home Computer Security Web site (here). It is a one-page, scored checklist that lets you get an idea of how well your home system is likely to be protected.
Please check back to the Free Security Tools page on a regular basis to see what’s new. The free worksheets may be freely copied and printed, with the condition that the attribution to me with the copyright is included. If you have questions or comments let me know.
