We are family
I don’t know of too many people who don’t have machines connected to the Internet at home. So, this applies to most of us. While many of us are doing our best to keep our enterprise security environments safe, many just don’t treat our home environments with the same respect. Michael Santarcangelo, the Security Catalyst, has started a podcast series aimed at helping us get our home computing environments in order. Good job, Michael. I listened to the first one last night, and it’s definitely a good thing for home users to follow this series as it gets published.

Thanks for the kind words. We’ve decided to make this a community effort - and have built an advisory board to help flesh out each topic.
I’m really enjoying the approach and see it as a strong beginning to an important service we can all provide. Once the initial series is completed, I expect to continue to work with everyone to produce programs that really help families tackle these issues.
I’m entirely open to suggestions for topics and ways to make this all better!

Surveillance cameras and video capture cards/dvrs and such are still very useful.
There are even systems that allow to tie a cash register into your camera footage, so that you can read the details of the transaction you are watching onscreen.
There’s a great site where you can get everything you’ll need for a top notch CCTV surveillance system.
